Zitto has a simple mission: to see everyone who comes through their doors ‘drink and enjoy’. These are words to live by, according to Zitto Castle Plaza Franchisee Owner Jess. Jess fell in love with Zitto on her very first day working in the business. She soon progressed to Manager at another location before taking up the opportunity to be the first franchisee owner for Zitto at Castle Plaza.

Jess says Zitto’s popularity with the locals is built on the foundation of great atmosphere, exceptional customer service, and “the best coffee”. The vibe is certainly fun and fresh, and the menu spans seasonal specials and café classics to suit all tastes. With more than 20 years’ experience in hospitality, Jess says she loves to see customers embrace new dishes as well as returning time and again to their favourites. “One of our regulars comes in for steak and eggs with a mug of skim latte three or four times a week. He loves our beef brisket,” says Jess.

The regulars know creating superlative coffee is important to Jess, and not just in terms of flavour. In fact, Jess proudly claims coffee is her hobby as well as her job. She is an enthusiastic latte artist and is enjoying expanding her repertoire, making each latte a special experience. You can even catch her in action Zitto’s Instagram page.

Unexpectedly, Jess has also found she has become an ambassador for – of all things - kale. This on-trend green is deep-fried to make a crispy garnish on Zitto’s interpretation of that enduring favourite, avocado toast. Some diners aren’t so keen on this idea initially, but that doesn’t last long with Jess around. “I have changed their minds,” she says proudly.

When asked to select her own favourite from the menu, Jess admits it is difficult to go past the tried-and-true flavours of a Zitto ham, cheese, and tomato toastie. Or the Eggs Benni. Or that avocado toast. “I’ll never get sick of the flavour combinations – the way each ingredient complements the others,” she says. “It’s hard to pick just one!”
